Hero Review: [Play Arts Kai] The Joker - The Dark Knight Trilogy

This blog had been on hiatus for too long. It's about time to start another review, and this time it's for the psychopath we are all familiar with: Batman's archnemesis, The Joker.

This figure is from Batman: The Dark Knight Trilogy line, and is modeled after the late Heath Ledger who portrayed The Joker in The Dark Knight. Joker's extremely sadistic personality and downright creepy countenance, perfectly captured in the big screen, never fails to give me the chills. Now let's see if Play Arts Kai's take on him gives justice to the character.

Pissed

Got nothing much to do so I decided to make a short comic strip featuring Play Arts Kais Ryu from SSFIV and Hope from FFXIII. Enjoy!

Acquired: [Play Arts Kai] Nero - Devil May Cry 4

This guy, together with DMC4's Dante, is one of the 'endangered species' of Play Arts Kai. So when a not-so-anonymous tip came up pointing the location of a new and affordable Nero (a certain shop in Mall of Asia), I just couldn't help but rush to that place to get Nero and finally complete my DMC4 tandem!

Hero Review: [Play Arts Kai] Kazuya Mishima - Tekken Tag Tournament 2

When I started this hobby, my goal was to make my action figure collection hero-exclusive (good guys only). And I've been getting the game/anime heroes until this badass from the Tekken series showed up. Originally the protagonist of the first Tekken game, this guy went running around being the bad guy after exacting revenge on his father. This figure is Kazuya's rendition for the latest Tekken installment: Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Hero Review: [Play Arts Kai] Lara Croft - Tomb Raider

The mention of the Action-Adventure genre for games will almost always bring the title Tomb Raider into mind. Sure, there are a lot of games that fall under this type but Tomb Raider may be considered as one of the pioneers, and Lara Croft as an icon for this genre.

Being a sucker for action-adventure-slash-treasure-hunting (not only in games, but also in movies!), this figure, along with the new Tomb Raider game was definitely hard to pass up. As soon as the pre-order for the Play Arts Kai of Lara was up, I rushed to the gaming store to reserve this piece of art. Anyway, say hi to the latest hi-def action figure-version of Lara Croft in her latest game installment, Tomb Raider.

Hero Review: [figma] Link - The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

It's been a while since I last posted a review. I've been quite busy at work and I haven't picked up my camera for a long time (laziness kind of kicked in). But anyway, here's a quick review of one of my childhood heroes from Nintendo: Link.

Acquired: [Play Arts Kai] Robin - Arkham City

So I was at the mall to trade in my Play Arts AC Yuffie Kisaragi for some cash (I sold the figure because there's an upcoming Play Arts Kai rendition of Yuffie and I don't really like duplicates). Anyway, after the trade I visited this gaming and multimedia store which sells Square Enix products and I saw the last stock of Play Arts Kai Arkham City Robin.

I was surprised at first because (1) they're selling it about P1000 ($25) cheaper than those sold at some of the hobby shops I frequent and (2) it was still available (new releases are sold quickly). It's pretty hard to come by because most branches only have 2 stocks, and hey, this is Robin we're talking about here. So what did I do to the money I just earned?

Naturally.

Batman: I didn't need your help.
Robin: Really? That's not what it looked like from where I was standing.
Batman: You are inside a box.
